When asked how we started Walden Lane Gourmet, the answer usually begins with “it was a dark and stormy night”. The real story is about a 30 year friendship and a mutual love of delicious food and meeting new people.
Jill, the British half of the team, came to the USA in 1970 as a swim coach after competing for Great Britain in the 1964 and 1968 Olympics. Jill and Ardell (the Dutch half of the duo) met while working for the Everett Parks & Recreation Department, when Jill hired Ardell as an intern in 1984. Over time, the two became best friends and hatched a dream of starting a gourmet specialty food business. When Jill retired and Ardell moved on from Parks, Walden Lane Gourmet was born! In 2014, Jill retired from the business, but continues to help Ardell at shows and delight customers with her sparkling personality.
You can visit our “traveling” store at many local farmer’s markets and a variety of arts festivals and special events. With the launch of our online store, it is easier than ever to bring to your home cooking the excitement of Walden Lane Gourmet’s international gourmet flavors.
Our passion is bringing innovative and delicious blends of balsamic vinegars, olive oils, rubs, herb and spice blends to our customers. In addition, we offer a variety of specialty salts and other epicurean delights. Our products are hand-prepared in our commercial kitchen in small batches to maintain the peak of freshness and quality. We love what we do and hope you will too!
